Comment on Two great reviews of NOCTURNAL EMISSIONS by Jeffrey Thomas

Here's another, mini review bookandreader.com's forum:

http://www.bookandreader.com/forums/f27/jeffrey-thomas-nocturnal-emissions-20483.html

Nocturnal Emissions is the newest collection of short stories by Jeffrey Thomas. I'm not really a horror kind of guy but I really enjoyed these stories. not so much horror as "weird', many of the stories reminded me of Twilight Zones updated for the 21st Century.

The stories are varied: a cryptozoologist investigating a strange thing washed up on a beach, two brothers in New England investigate a series of UFO sightings, a priest's encounter with a most curious object at a fair, a world with advertisements gone awry, and more.

If you like tales of the weird, it's worth checking out.

I give it -, so 3.5/5.

Hi, Eric. The best thing I can think of is the Locus Index to Science Fiction, which gives an annual list -- though the most recent list seems to be for 2007. (?) Here's 2007's example for Scott's books:
http://www.locusmag.com/index/yr2007/b56.htm#A1921
And here's an incomplete list they did of some of his individual stories:
http://www.locusmag.com/index/yr2007/s71.htm#A3032
Wish there was something more complete. I don't have a really complete listing of my published work online, myself. :-)

Allo Jeffrey,

Is there anywhere online a bibliography of Scott's work available? Thank you.

Ha...well, Wulf, I had some pictures developed at a local camera shop back in the day, and I remember this print had incriminating fingerprints all over it when it came back. So when the detectives showed up, asking me if we had an automatic weapon (Scott wasn't home at the time), I asked them if the camera shop owner had contacted them about the scary picture but they denied it was that. Riiight. Anyway, they were very pleasant, and they seemed to really enjoy handling what turned out only to be a very convincing replica gun. I offered to show them the other repilca guns I had but they said it wasn't necessary, and left.

How the Westborough police ended up confiscating my REAL .38 handgun, though, is another story.

Those crazy controversial Thomas boys.

Anyway, yeah, it would be great to dig up a photo of Scott made up as the simian detective "Salem" from DECIMATOR 340, MAD CITY or SIRENS. I can't recall if I have any such photos, though. I've got to get those videos transfered to DVD or something one of these days!

Plainclothes policemen???

I don't remember hearing THAT story.

Now, you know, the only way you're gonna top that first picture is with one of the stills from your youthful video movies depicting Scott as a mutant ape.

I'm certain you will, too, Steven. All the Dark Regions books are beautiful things, but not all have interior artwork so Scott's new book is particularly lovely. Plus, he is truly a brilliant modern master of the classic horror tale. I like to brag that he had two -- TWO -- stories reprinted in volume #15 of St. Martin's THE YEAR'S BEST FANTASY AND HORROR some years back. So...enjoy!! :-)
